Hwy 50 is on the old grade from the west side of Gunnison for a couple of miles. The old highwy goes up and over the hill on the far side of the river, where several pictures were taken from back in the day, and then can be seen parallel to the current route on the North side of the road. a couple of miles West of the river 50 turns to the right (if you're westbound) and leaves the grade, which continued on in a straight line and crossed the river again. a little bit on west a county road turns off to the left (South,) crossing the river and then the grade. At this point the grade going on west runs through (in 2010, last time I was there) a pasture while the grade to the right carries a road up to the Gunnison sewage plant. You can drive up a bit towards the plant, less than a mile.
