Chris, Russ:
I have some old drawings I bought from John Maxwell years before the CRRM came out with the complete Val maps. These copies had notations concerning tracks 73 and 74
Track 74 1615' Rem T-5424 1935
Track 73 1088' Retired AFE T-885 1947
From a copy V9A/20 and V9A/20B corrected to Dec 31,1927
One copy shows Track 72 4191' still running toward the La Veta Hotel from the West as a spur.
Of interest toward the purpose of at least Track 74 is a ice pond located beside it and a channel through bridge 289A. I have another large drawing of a proposed 5000 ton ice house located on a siding off the mainline between the headblocks of Track 73 and bridge 289A although the proposed siding had been removed by erasure. None of this area really shows up in any book or picture I have seen. This was the site of the early Gunnison airport in the 1950's
