Greg, 345 was the 'double' for 268 in the collision scene for "Denver & Rio Grande." You are correct, both locomotives were scrapped after the staged collision. I believe R. W. Richardson acquired the dome rings from 345 after the collision to help restore 346, which had the oddly mis-matched dome covers following the rebuild by the C&S / CB&Q joint shops after she was wrecked on Kenosha Pass.
