It was not uncommon for 3400's to be used on 115-116, especially if they needed to move helper power over to the other side of the Pass. The schedule was rather slow - about 35-40 on the flats and 18 or so over the mountain. I wonder if 3403 stayed with the train beyond La Veta, or if they put a smaller engine on for the trip to Pueblo.
