I can tell you this much regarding the use of the SP 6 chime whistle on the West Side. While West Side was still hauling logs out of the woods (through the 1960 season), there were more than one of the 3T Shays that used this type. I think that 14 was the other one that showed up in photos with a 6 chime along with the 9 spot. Shay 10 had the 6" Lunkenheimer plain (single note) and the others appeared to have cast 5 chimes. No 3 chimes at all.

Neighboring Pickering Lbr. did not use the 6 chime, they used 3 chimes and cast 5 chimes.
