Hi,
During Memorial Day about 1990-1991, before Atlanta was chosen for the 1996 Olympics, there was a traditional Civil War encampment with Southern Belles, Union Soldiers and Confederate soldiers in period dress. Tines for scheduled firing squads for traitors and firing a period cannon with blanks.
We were honoring the many different soldier of our country's warriors. Men who came in there uniform was given a free pass into the area.
About the time for one of the cannon firing demonstration, the road in the distance had the Olympic Committee convoy start to pass the demonstration field when the cannon went off. There were several surprised Olympic Committee faces in the window when the Confederates "attacked" the convoy
Thanks to all of our warriors in the military past and present.
