There is a wonderful museum of a 2 1/2' (760 mm) railroad in Sao Joao del Rey, central Brasil. They have a pass. train station shed, mechanical and wood shops, and a tourist line of 13 km. And the best is a fleet of 18 Baldwin locomotives, from 4-4-0 to 2-8-0 inside and outside frames. The original line reached a length of 602 km ! imagine that trip. They had sleeper cars.
Name of the line was Oeste de Minas, or EFOM.
I could not find a website for this museum. But good info is:
[
www.internationalsteam.co.uk] first chapter
[
en.wikipedia.org]
[
www.bahnbilder.de]
has a lot of older photos, German Text
This railroad was also mentioned in the book: Carlheinz Hahmann, Charles S. Small: Brazilian Steam Album Vol I, Two Footers
when googling Sao Joao you get todays tourists photos so everything seems to be there.
I visited in 1986, my Kodachrome slides have stark black shades.
enjoy
