Hmmmm. The pic of the 452 shows it way down the side of a hill. The pic is facing the engine, the uphill side is to the right. So, the pic is looking up hill towards Marshall Pass. The engine derailed to the right and rolled.
This pic is east of Mears Jct., before the track crosses Poncha Creek. The road on the right would today be US 285. Everything is piled up fairly close to the track and in the creek. the view is looking down toward Poncha Junction. In this shot everything derailed to the left.
I think we are looking at 2 different wrecks here.
Interesting note on the 452 pic is that she has blind center drivers.
If the shot of 452 is indeed east of Mears, it would have to be further down the hill than Dave's pic, near where the track crossed over from the Poncha Creek side over to where it dropped off the hill and down to Poncha Jct.
