A few years ago a long time friend who lives in Pennsylvania found some slides that he took on a Maryland & Pennsylvania RR excursion that ran from York, PA to Delta, PA in 1965. The trip was run by George Harts Rail tours that ran steam on a number of PA pikes. In going through the slides there's one that looks down along side the coach as the train twists it's way through the Muddy Creek Valley. About six windows ahead is a young red headed guy leaning out the window...it's me. Turns out that my (future) friend, Art was in the same coach, a few seats back from our family.
My father got about a dozen slides that day but most are posed because he shot Kodak 25 slide film. Art's photo is the only action shot that I am in. The funny thing is that 20 years later I worked with George Hart when he reopened the Stewartstown Railroad and a few years later I met Art throught the Maryland & Penna. RR Historical Society.
As Fibber McGee used to say ... "Who'd a thunk it"
