Did the DRGW ever use the number boards by the stack as train number indicators? I have always assumed they did not, but then why did they use boxes designed to switch numbers so easily. I suppose the answer is it was a standard design used by the SP and UP, so was readily available. Did any other railroad use similar boxes for engine numbers?
