Hi,
I seem to recall a story from the Narrow Gauge News reprinted in the Colorado Rail Annual.
It was about the final train going south from Hooper taking up the narrow gauge rail (none being left north of town). A shop owner there asked what was going on and when he heard that the line was being scrapped said something about his load of Crested Butte Coal he was waiting on would not be coming. I thought it funny being so out of touch with what was going on that he did not know about the scrapping the line.
I suspect that it would have been transferred by hand to SG gons and the merchant would have received the coal. However it might have been transferred to truck also.
