Re: Passenger car trucks

The attached photos are from the collection of the late Bill Coffey, a well known narrow gauge modeler during the 1960's. While working full time at Lockheed Sunnyvale Bill acquired the assets of Micro Wood Products a manufacturer of shapes in wood for the scale modeler. Bill intended to expand the product with the introduction of a Wooden HOn3 Passenger car kit.The first shot is of a NG D&RGW passenger car truck that was used a reference material for an HOn3 passenger truck that was to be included with the kit.

Bill contracted with his friend Harry Weiss, owner of The Cliff Line, a manufacturer of HO models and trucks with the then new NMRA RP-25 wheel profile for the trucks. Unfortunately, problems with the die maker delayed the truck to the point where Bill was ultimately forced to close down his newly acquired company after only one year.

The second shot is of Bill's prototype for the kit. Both photos are from Summer Job, My history of the Cliff Line.
