Jerry Day did a great job covering this car in the Narrow gauge Pictorial issue on the lettered work equipment. It is included with Rotary OM.
This was the tender for Uintah 2-8-2 #30. I assume it came new from Baldwin with the engine in 1911. It was sold to the Grande in May 1940 with the 5 water cars through A.T.Herr Supply Company. The purchase price was $194.86

As water car W-499 it worked out of Alamosa and is seen being used a dual guage idler between Alamosa and Antonito and on the valley line which was 3 rail to Hooper starting in 1951, I believe. . It is also seen with OM before replacing the rotary's original tender. you could really never see the old lettering under the gray paint. When the OM was painted red the dark color made it very easy to see the big 30 on the rear and the W-499 on the side.
