great pics! some of the very few i have seen of Shay #8 in action on the loop.
First time I rode the loop was in '81 or '82 - we were on a family road trip through colorado and i very much remember seeing the sign for the loop on the interstate and begging my mom to stop (i was 10 or 11 years old at the time). She stopped in georgetown and we rode the train from what was the old station stop somewhere on the side of the mountain before the bridge was rebuilt. I remember the walk up to the station was pretty steep for us flatlanders. I think it was #40 that was pulling trains that day but when we pulled into silverplume, i could not believe me eyes when i saw shay 8 sitting next to the shop and under steam. I think one of the other shays (either 12 or 14) was sitting in front of the shop doors not under steam. I think at this time shay 14 and #44 were still over in blackhawk.
These pics definitely bring back some memories.
