I was there on Saturday as well, and when she ran unassisted, the smoke and the noise were very dramatic. On the 4th run she seemed to stall just short of the big fill and was "rescued" by a diesel from Silver Plume, which came down to couple on. On the last run, the diesel chased her down the hill and was behind her in the consist going up the hill. It would appear as if the train she was handling was perhaps just one car too many. Still, she is a beautiful engine and very impressive to watch.
Difficult railroad to photograph. I got some decent images, but would love to have another crack at it. I am not a big fan of drones, but I have to admit that it would probably be the best way to photograph The Loop. I see the potential for some very spectacular photos with the 111. Has there ever been a photo charter there? I have seen some photos....postcards really.....of the C&S #9 with freight cars, which typically spells charter.
