Re: 478/483 swap revisited?

From what I see nobody wants to get rid of the 483, but since nobody has plunked down any dollars to restore her, I am pragmatic enough to realize that if we ever want to see her hot again, it will have to be over at the D&S. Lets get realistic here, there is much less work and dollars required to get 478 running in good shape than it would take to get the 83 running again. The K28s ran on the tracks that is now the CATS line so it is as much as part of CATS history as it is on the D&S. We already have 4 operational K36s, and a K27, so having a K28 on the property would not only tell the story of the railroads history, but provide more options for charters to provide additional revenue and publicity to the R/R.

If the CATS ever gets to the point of needing additional power, they don't have very far to look to find a few K37's to make operational again. I understand and respect the part that the 83 played in saving the CATS when the states first bought the R/R, but lets get real here, without several million dollars worth of work and parts it just ain't gonna happen.
