I couldn't agree with you more, Greg -
Many non-foamers do take photos of their friends and families standing by the locomotives, so it makes sense to correctly identify the railroad on the tenders as an aid to 'word-of-mouth' advertising when said photos are shared with other friends and family members. But keeping the history alive by using historic colors on the structures - and in the case of the C&TS having the old Rio Grande herald on the historic water towers (i.e. not necessarily the one in Antonito) - is, IMHO, a good thing.
One thing I might do, though, is paint the flying
Rio Grande herald on the tenders of the K-36's, and cover these with semi-permanent magnetic
Cumbres & Toltec logos that could easily be removed for charters.
