Slight addition to #9's story

June 16, 2000 01:46PM
C&s 9 was at the Chicago RR Fair both in 1948 and 1949. For the 1949 edition, a siding was added midway on the 3ft gauge trackage that ran along the west edge of the Fair grounds. The D&RGW 268 and entourage came dressed up as Cripple Creek & Tin Cup "Montezuma" in 1949 only. Both consists faced north, i.e. pulling north and shoving south. The trackage was bordered by fencing and trees making photographs very difficult. I'd like to go back with my Nikon and its 28-135 instead of the the old 116 roll film job I had then. Oh well, guess I should be thankful that I had a railfan Dad who saw to it that I got to ride it both years.
