Bruce, I agree that it is the SVRy snow plow. In fact I tried to find a good rear view of the plow to confirm this before posting this monring, but only came up with these three shots that seemed relevant. Notice that unlike on a caboose the stove pipe is centered, the rear facing window of the cupola appears to be centered and the side walls overhang the side sills with stake pockets present. Apart from the rear window these details match the photos posted below. Notice in the photo posted at S. Baker that the top of the snow plows oil headlight can be seen over the roof. The second shot I posted below confirms this headlight arrangement. In the 3 shot below, it appears to me that one can see through the front window of the plow cupola, through the back window to the snow on the roof, but maybe this is a stretch. The 1st and 3rd photos are of the same train in 1916. The 2nd may be as well. All are from the SVRR Archives Harr Collection.
