That sounds like a good idea, maybe the 2017 convention in Denver will offer the one-day option. From what I've seen each convention is set up a little differently. Some years you can get a one day pass for certain clinics or tours and other years you must get a general admission badge that covers all the days. For special attractions such as layout or railroad tours you need an extra ticket which is more $$. Not saying this is good or bad, it's just how each organization puts things together for the convention in their state. It takes years of planning and work to host the NNGC so much thought goes into the event.
BTW - There were quite a few NGDF members in Maine ... we're waiting for youz guyz to post some pictures
