You're right Rich, it's definitely a business thing. Renting the Augusta Civic Center for 5 days isn't cheap so big attendance was key to holding the convention in Maine. Attracting a good crowd depends on location and what is offered, especially to bring people from other states and countries. There are lots of things to bring people in but the best draw seems to be having operating narrow gauge railroads within easy travel from convention HQ, of course that limits the number of loactions. I plan on going to future conventions so I hope they continue!
