Russo and Greg;
McPhee the author should be a whole new topic and not NNG, I was first introduced to his work in the late spring of 1979, sitting on the rear platform of the last car of a White Pass and Yukon train from Skagway to Whitehorse, with my legs dangling beside the coupler, watching Alaska, and British Columbia, and the Yukon recede before me, at 20 mph or so, all for the first time. The conductor, who turned out to be from my home town in Oregon, sat on the other side and told me about it all.
There was a book I had to read, he said, called "Coming in to the Country". Eventually I was able to get a copy, but not before living through some of it..... And for me both McPhees will always be part of the Narrow Gauge.
