Before this thread slips into oblivion again, let me add one note: I'm working on an interactive map of Long Leaf and the RR&G. It shows the town as it exist today with all of the active track, the abandoned grades, and some proposals for future expansion. It encompasses everything from Long Leaf Jct to Louisiana Jct and is as comprehensive as I can make it. It should offer a great overview of the operation to those that are interested.
The map should be ready for posting the week after Christmas. I'll let you know when it's ready.
Last thought: for those of you in east Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Alabama that can't get up to Narrow Gauge Country as often as you'd like, please consider the RR&G to be a local alternative. Yes, there are no mountains and the rails are too far apart, but the
flavor of the narrow gauge lives here. And, there is real potential for Long Leaf to someday become the Chama of the South!
Or, perhaps, the Orbisonia of the West. Ely of the East?
