The excursion formally ended in Montrose, CO on June 29, 1951, with riders either taking the chartered bus back to L.A. or arranging their own transportation. Ed paid the $30 "on your own" fare, and he stayed back a day in Montrose, which at the time like Alamosa was a dual gauge town.
