Thank you for that simple explanation. I had never understood what TE actually was as no book, magazine article, internet posting, or anything I've
ever seen in over 30 years ever simply said what the heck Tractive Effort was.
So, TE is the max weight a loco can get moving (on assuming level track), right?
Really, for many years I've wondered what it meant because every reference you
ever see to it assumes you already knew what TE was!
