It's interesting and "safely" applies to a DC motored diesel but the difference in an AC motored diesel between starting and continuous is not so pronounced due
to the much better heat dissipation and overall efficiency of the AC motored not to mention the heat caused by the brush interface in the DC motor. Also an AC unit
will start close to 50% of weight on drivers thanks to much better wheelslip software. As to steam, the 25% number is a good average, your results may vary due to
wet rail, running out of sand, and @#$%& hoghead!
