Hi, Bill -
Not really. Hauling water from the "creek" to rinse off the boiler jacket was not the easiest way to do the job - but we didn't have much choice, did we?
Much as I think #489 looked pretty good with her almost-historic, slightly-too-bright green jacket, rather than do it again I'd like to re-create a different historic happening. August 28, 2018 will be the 50th anniversary of the last D&RGW revenue freight westbound over Cumbres Pass, the last loads of oilfield supplies hauled to Farmington. The road engine - #484 - is still operational on the C&TS, but helper #483 on the point as helper from Alamosa to Cumbres would have to be replaced by a renumbered #488 or #489 if a re-creation were to be attempted.
Re-enacting this scene on the 'raceway' between Alamosa and Antonito would be difficult

. . . but if you'd like to play brakeman-in-the-rain on the stretch just west of Sublette maybe it could be arranged for you to take JBWX' place
:
And if you want Roger and/or Steve to get video, we'd need a BIG herd of beavers to clear out all the aspen trees that have filled in the downhill side of that curve
