We did similar conversions on the fan bearings on the down hole fans at the Barrick mine in the Carlin North Trend. We had similar results
dropping the shell temperature down from 165 to 15 above ambient (we circulated and cooled the lubricant). The interesting thing was that
we used a continuous circulating system because during Winter we actually had to heat the oil to get it to circulate! Be interesting to see what
a true Winter start would have on a locomotive.
