Part 2. Continuing on with the locomotive....
Riding piggyback to the site.
Placing the "standard gage" 60 inch drivers on the 136 lb. Arema SS track donated by the Union Pacific Railroad to our project. By the way you can see Jason's Tender base!
Mating the locomotive to the Wheel sets.
The tender tank attached to Jason's Base, and how we set the narrow gage cars. Not the way I wanted to do it, I wanted to lay two rails centered inside the standard gage rails so that the cars would be centered. But it looks OK this way, the water tower kind of hides the offset. I believe the bolsters on the tender are the oldest pieces on the display, cast in the 1890's in Saint Louis, I believe I read where the D&RGW acquired them from the Missouri Pacific (Pacific Railroad) and cut them down in the 1920's for narrow gage use. So they have in a way, made it back home!
A bare bones locomotive and tender awaiting lots of detail parts......
I will continue later, got to get to bed.... I work the night shift!
