The 3 footers are right at home in Central Florida. In the same area and throughout Central Florida there was an extensive 3 foot rail system during the heyday of the narrow gauge era in the late 19th century. It was one of the largest and most successful narrow gauge networks in the US. See "American Narrow Gauge Railroads" by George Hilton for a good discussion of the Florida narrow gauge lines.
