Just got back from making the, according to my wife, mandatory family vacation to Disney World in Florida. (she believes it is the right of every family to make this trip together once)
The highlight for me was the 3 ft. steam power.
I talked briefly with one of the locomotive crew and he informed me they had four locomotives, three of which were currently on the property and in operation and one was in North Carolina being rebuilt.
The construction dates of the four locomotives were 1911, 1916 and two from 1925. The three that were there were a 4-4-0, 2-6-0 and a 4-6-0.
While purists might howl about the color of the paint schemes, these locomotives are maintained in immaculate condition. The crews obviously have a great deal of pride in their motive power.
My kids enjoyed them and I will say that after 12+ rides behind beautiful narrow gauge steam locomotives I did enjoy my trip.
