Mr. Hogan and Mr. Gilmer each made $3,200 in 1939. In comparison Shavano conductor E.P. Mahoney made $3,105. Zeke Walden, a bus driver for the railroad made $1,200, showing one reason why the Rio Grande was in favor of buses taking over the passenger business.
Other people's wages included expressman Clinton Miller $1,500, brakeman Alonzo Miller $675 for 30 weeks work and county judge Clyde Welch, $2,000.
