Alonzo W. Hogan (1890-1965) came to work for the D&RG(W) sometime before 1930. He is listed in both the 1930 census and the 1940 census as being the railroad agent in Gunnison. The 1940 census is the latest census available to the public.
The Shavano was discontinued in 1940 but freight service continued until 1953 so I don't know how long he stayed in Gunnison. Even though the line was abandoned in 1953 some trains were operated in 1954 to retrieve equipment and a D&RGW train ran as far as Sargent in 1955, delivering cars to the scrapper. I don't think an agent was needed then.
Mr. Hogan, who was born in Missouri, is buried in Olathe, CO. He may have transferred to the D&RGW agency there when the Gunnison business dried up.
