Hi Jerry... interesting that the 480 was the first tested even though 482 (according to shop number) was the first built and that 482 was the one immortalized by George Beam. Another 482 oddity is that even though it has the "first" boiler (by shop number) it has the 3rd set of running gear. I've been told that sometimes BLW grabbed builders plates out of a barrel and slapped them on the engine and assigned the shop # after the boiler was built. During construction the engine was referred to by its BLW class number.
