Yes, we used to haul the occassional freight in the early days of the D&S. The evening "Cascade" train that left Durango in the afternoon would often handle these duties for Tacoma, Ah Wilderness and Tall Timber. I remember hauling in a flat loaded with hay for the horses at Ah Wildeness, propane for Tall Timber and other car loads or other LCL.
Freight trains included the pipe, machines and other materials for Tacoma and on a single train, horses to Ah Wilderness in stock cars that Charlie purchased from the C&TS and other private parties. I have photos of that one around somewhere as I was the fireman for Paul Connor on that trip.
