Durango Vendor

Hi Mr. Knoob and Mr. Bush,
I want to thank both of you for your imput. It is interesting to see what parameters the Rio Grande used to choose power for the final years, and boiler work was certainly apart of that. These decisions on motive power maintenace, are simular to what I have seen other companies make. It is interesting to note that the locomotive work was managed to limit the amount of money that was spent on a single locomotive at any one time.
The vendor from Durango Mr. Knoob mentioned also did the weld on SP 3420's boiler shell in January 1990 which Mr. Bush saw in his inspection of 3420. At that time, with our problems with finding someone to do the work, we were almost ready to bring in a natural gas pipe line welder to get it done. I am sorry I missed Mr. Bush when he visited the Grand Canyon Railway as I did not know you were visiting.
Thank You
Robby
