Hi,
When Texas (the Mexican territory that went as far north as the middle of the current state of the Wyoming, and as far west (I think) the Rio Grande River was accepted into the United States, the parts outside of the current State of Texas were ceeded to the US for the US Government to accept the Nation of Texas' debts.
I lived in Houston TX from 1980 to 1983 and a myth exists that if the State of Texas is not allowed to separate into five smaller states "one for each of the five points of the lone star", Texas would be allowed to leave the Union.
It was always being brought out about once year as sort of a tongue-in-cheek proposal. I do not know what the actual truth is.
IF Texas would LEGALLY leave the US, I would be glad to move there. I think they have more common sense in the Big Bend Country than those in Washington DC do.
Besides, There's no law west of Dodge and no God west of the Pecos. Can you ID the quote? (trying to turn to a less serious topic)
