Since Silverton Northern is one of my side interests and I've done a lot of research on these engines:
The Silverton northern had two c-19's of 1903 and 1906 construction, Locomotives #3 and #4 They are basically the same catalog model as the F&CC C-18's but with a bit more tractive effort. The SG&N #34 is the same basic engine, but built with an outside frame. The reason for this: you could order a basic catalog engine from Baldwin(or any other locomotive builder) but specify you wanted it customized with certain items. So the SN#3,and #4 were the same engine class as 34. Same cylinders same basic boiler, same drivers and running gear, except the outside frame allowed for a wide and short firebox. GLRR 40, and 44 are the same catalog engine as the 360 and 361 just separated by 20 years of technology and they have the same frame as the #34 but bigger pistons and bigger boiler.
#3 and #4 actually had a little bit more tractive effort than the #34, but 34 was heavier, #3, and #4 weighed 72,000lbs and 34 weighed around 88,000lbs. so the 34 would have lower tractive effort, but a much higher factor of adhesion, so shed be much less slippery.
