Just an observation.

I recall visiting areas in Kentucky and New England where preserved buildings from the Pilgrams and Daniel Boone eras were preserved and had to duck to get through them. I was about 15-18 at the time.

The same was true for some of the soddies and other preserved western buildings I've visited.

I wonder how the average height of men has increased over time?

1840: 172-173.9 cm 5' 8" - 5' 8.5"
1860: 170-171.9 cm 5' 7" - 7' 7.7"
1880: 168-169.9 cm 5' 6" - 5' 6.9"
1900: 170-171.9 cm 5' 7" - 7' 7.7"
