I agree, it was probably 487 that was getting re-flued. That old enginehouse WAS really drafty! We did keep the potbelly stoves glowing red. Early in the winter, I walked by one of the stoves about a foot away, and melted my new nylon parka. But even with the stoves that hot, the work pits had ice in them all winter.

However, expanding and rolling flues was enough to keep you plenty warm.
