If I recall, the Hancock 4700 series whistles are three chime.

It was actually common equipment on many industrial GE diesel-electrics to use a Westinghouse Air Brake air whistle, similar to traction/trolley use.

In the later photo from Martin's collection, it looks like #101 has a small single chime peanut whistle. Original equipment or off a logging donkey. That small it would be pretty high pitched and obnoxious.
