Well if a hodge-podge consist for a run of the mill reproduction photo special is your goal this fits right in. If you are trying to do a photo special and imitate what it would have looked like during regular service this car would not fit in well, would it.
What I see is 2 or three levels of so called "Authentic" type of photo specials operated on the NG lines these days. Yes you can hide rider cars at the end, and still photos will never see them. But remember videos and still guys who might shoot the end will capture them every time. There is no hiding such cars. The problem has always been "What to do with those pesky paying customers--riders"! There are no cheap answers to the problem unless you put them inside regular MOW cars, like bunk cars, caboose, etc. For some 90's charters we used the two bunk cars and a ride gon next to the caboose.
The best solution is to have an escort train of regular coaches or box car coaches so there are some restrooms, and either follow or run in front of the "period train". But of course that doubles the cost doesn't it. No easy answers to totally solve the issue.
