Fwiw... the British Lancaster Bomber was left-hand "drive" smiling smiley

On NZR both British and US steam locomotives righthand drive, our first British-built Diesels on Mainline, Endcab Highhood with controls bothsides (later only rightside used). Second and third types from Britain, single controls in centre(anticipated one man on Diesels:didn't happen) and the Assistants seat shoehorned on the left corner. Our railcars were all centredriven but suburban units righthandside.

All our American units controls on the right. British Shunt locomotives endcab design bothsides but NZR designed and built centrecab shunt locos both sides but with lefthand forward facing controls.

Our Double-lines are all left-hand running and we drive our cars and trucks righthanddrive on the Lefthandside of the roadways.

I went over to Aussie in the late 1970's and the NSW trains out of Sydney were left-handed controls yet the Queensland Railways were righthandside, go figure!
