1) The big wave of throwing out English traditions was pretty much over by the end of the War of 1812.
2) In the 1820's tea was still the #3 drink consumed per capita in the USA (after cider(hard) and whiskey) while coffee was barely a blip. didn't come on for another generation or so. If it makes you feel better, British travellers of the period routinely complained about the awful way Cousin Jonathon brewed tea.
3) AFAIK Christmas, and the Father associated with, where not much celebrated in the Colonies. In fact it was a crime to do so in at least one of them (Massachusetts.) Santa Claus and all that were brought here by Dutch & German immigrants of the period 1810-1840.
