NEW DATA on the Terry Mill Co."Barney". While doing research on early D&RG locomotives for a new book, I discovered that D&RG #3 2-6-0 Baldwin (c/n 2476-1871) "Sho-wa-no" ended up as Terry Mill (Shasta Lumber Co./Shasta Land & Timber) #3 "Barney". The D&RG rebuilt their #3 Mogul into an 0-6-0T (Class 39) 7/11/1884 and on 8/22/1888 sold the loco to the San Francisco Construction Company. The SFCCo was involved in filling in the Bay in order to reclaim more dry land. I do not know the date that this engine went to Terry Mill, but she appears in several early scenes like the one attached.
I did an indepth study of the five early Rio Grande 2-6-0s that were converted to 0-6-0T "Yard Hens" as well as the nine new Baldwin 0-6-0Ts (Class 48). These appeared as a three part series in the NG & SL GAZETTE with photos and full color plans in 2012.One of these became Rio Grande Southern #14. The East Broad Top's #6 was built from the same plans as the nine new D&RG locos.
