Not coal, but gold and silver mines are what predominated in the Tintic Mining District where these engines ran. UP approached the Tintic mountains from the west, and D&RGW approached from the east. A map of all of the spurs in the district looks like a bowl of spaghetti.
Lots of old roadbeds to explore and head frames still standing.
