Hi Andy,
It's a short piece, maybe 8 or 10 feet, and I believe the weight is 56 lbs. (Brendan, James, Stewart, and Hansel are invited to correct me on this I'm mistaken!) The weight presents a bit of a mystery, as the WW&F mainline (including TOM) is all supposed to have been 35 lbs, with heavier rail used only on the Winslow Branch, which was constructed to a higher standard. (The Winslow Branch was originally built as part of an abortive project to connect with the Sandy River RR at Farmington and create a narrow gauge trunk line across the state of Maine -- a tragic saga that deserves its own discussion thread.) So the rail definitely comes from the historical WW&F, but how it got where it was found we'll never know. I've heard it suggested it could have fallen off a passing train.
