My dad was a cinematographer, and spent a couple of days shooting runbys on what is now the C&TS, back before the rails came up. This was in support of the effort to get the states to preserve the Chama-Antonito section. I remember seeing his movies, but sadly all that is gone. However, I do still have a letter from Mr. Richardson, asking that my father be allowed full access.
Shortly thereafter, he drove me along the route from Chama to Durango, chasing a Mike running light. We had no trouble detouring from Dulce to the west side of the reservoir, and beating the Mike.
This hooked me on narrow gauge. Indeed, steam so fascinated me that even as a kid I never owned a model of the diesel locomotive.
Great pics, great memories.
