Hi,
I recall my first visit to San Francisco and Fisherman's Wharf (1970). It still had the appearance of operations in the street and just one or two places on the Wharf were tourist. Sorry I did not see anything moving (I was 14 with the family).
By about 1990, the tourists had taken over and it was not nearly as interesting except for railfan archeology - the extra day I had there was changed to allow me to go to Tilden Park.
Sort of like Durango in 1972 (a real working ranch and farming town) and today's more yuppiish ( yuppyish? ) format. Still great to visit but not as great as it was. That was the main reason I was against the changes in Shama a few years ago when the clock went in. But it was put in to attract tourists and they do need the $ draw.
