Roger's The Hotel & Shops is my preferred place to stay in Chama and is the local hangout for railfans in the area. Their balcony (open to all guests) is very nice at the end of the day to just take in the cool mountain air with a hint of coal smoke and shoot with the wind with others that are interested in what you are interested in.

If Roger's is full (and yes it might already be for a special train event), I would go with Vista Del Rio Lodge. [vistadelriolodge.com] You can't walk to the yard like Roger's place but I have always been pleased with the rooms there and it is my second choice whenever I am in the area.

Enjoy the trip!
